Tom is a multi-hat founder and solutions engineer. Before Atlas he led AI and tooling for enterprise clients at Argos Multilingual. Before that, HubSpot — and before that, LanguageLine (UK). Years spent in localization engineering: XLIFF, XML, JSON, the file formats and standards that decide whether a sentence survives the trip from one language to another. Careful, invisible work. Nobody writes threads about it.

Between 2024 and 2025 he built his first startup, selenaCAT — a computer-assisted translation tool, from scratch, for linguists. He researched and developed a multilingual file format, BTOF, and the custom parsers around it, written after going through the Microsoft OOXML, to strip formatting tags out of the editor and hand the translator back a readable sentence — designed with Felipe von Hausen (Chile · Germany) and Marta María Fernández (Spain), and a partnership with Chile. For data protection he brought in Botjam, a UK private-AI company running forty-plus NVIDIA GPUs, and worked with Victor Martins — twenty-five years a senior data engineer — connecting APIs and micro-tools into something an assistant could actually call, before MCP was a standard. A run of venture meetings in Brussels, Belgium, was where it clicked: he came home wanting to build more, not less.

Then, mid-2026, came a venture that began as a conversation at The Delta Campus, Berlin-Neukölln. To optimise the work and cut the workload, he started building Atlas — with one rule from the first day: no vendor lock-in.

That experience kept pushing him to build more.
